Mark and Lard's Classic Cuts

I used to love this on Radio 1. The Mark and Lard show would have a feature entitled 'classic cuts' which revealed cherished vinyl that Lard had allegedly collected over the years in mint condition.

Except it wasn't.

How they got away with such risque humour and language in the afternoon is beyond me, but it gave me a great laugh. Still does too, which is why I thought I'd share some of the material out there on youtube here on the blog.

  1. I loved Mark and Lard. My favourite recollection was the "Big Seller from the Big Cellar" wherein Lard would produce a 7" single which he liked and pass it off of as a lost hit from the archive. I still maintain that the day they played "The Snake" was the all time high for the Radio 1 breakfast show and it was all downhill from there.

    1. They were amazing, The day they left R1 was the day I stopped listening to it, because I only listened to it for them anyway (certainly after John Peel died, there was nothing else) I do love Radcliffe and Maconie, and indeed both of them solo, too. And Mark's band The Family Mahone have given me a couple of brilliant nights out.
